２００８年 ６月 学芸会 End of the Year Play
しかもちょっとしたミュージカル形式で。
理科系の方の担任の先生がもともと
音楽院出身であるということも手伝って
歌のとても上手な３年E組。
学校で唯一、ミュージカル形式でやったクラスだったそうだ。
ジュートで作ったコスチュームは子どもたちにも気に入ってもらえ、
「原始時代」らしい雰囲気が出ていた。
息子は幼稚園時代からの相棒リヴィアとともに
「科学」と「時間」という、寓意的人物を演じた。
ノーベル賞を得たいという野心に燃えた２人の科学者が
タイムマシンに乗って過去にジャンプし、
原始人を拉致しようとする。
「科学」は、「おまえたちには科学の本当の心、
つまり生きとし生けるものの尊厳を
重んじるということを忘れている」と戒める。
・・・昨年の演目もそうなのだが
イタリアでは学校の劇の台本でもどうしても「教訓性」が
強調されてしまう。（もちろんそれはそれでいいのだが）
イタリアの児童文学も大人側からのモラルの押しつけが目立ち、
とってもいいなあと思って読み進めて
最後でがっかりしてしまうことが多いように感じる。
子ども向けの読み物とは必ず何かを「教える」ものでなけれならなないのだ、という
１９世紀初頭からの考えが今でも根強いのかも。
先生たちへのプレゼントはコッライーニから再版された
ムナーリの知育玩具、『たしたりひいたり』と
『ABCで遊ぼう』、それからウインド・チャイム。
（理科系の先生にはグレゴリオ聖歌の音階のチャイム！）
My son's class is quite famous for being good at singing,
so they were the only class in the whole school
that worked this year on a musical instead of the usual play.
(We are really lucky to have a Math and Science teacher who, among other things, has also graduated from music school!)
This year's piece was called: "Mission Impossible in the Primitive Era".
Like last year's piece it included a moral at the end,
represented in the words recited by the allegorical figure of Science played by my son:
"humans must not forget that 'Science' means respect for the dignity of all living thing...".
I haven't read much of Italian children's literature,
but I do remember the disappoinment felt at the end
because of the emphasis on the educative factor.
School plays naturally are no exception...

Presents for our teachers:
Two games created by Munari recently re-produced by Corraini,
1) Plus and Minus
2) ABC with Fantasy
and wind-chimes, each one with a different set of notes.
For our Math and Science teacher, a wind-chime with notes from the Gregorian Chant.
