Daddy's out in L.A.
Here's what Mom and I did on Sunday...
日曜はまずポルタ・ポルテーゼの市に行って
パン入れに付けられそうな古い蝶番を探した。
アンティックの家具や古道具は主にイルネリオ広場近辺に見られるのだが、
扉の取っ手や鍵穴などの金物は見つかったが
蝶番を扱っている屋台は残念ながら見当たらなかった。
やはり一番破損しやすい金具なのだろう。
息子は自分の硬貨のコレクション用にインドのルビーをほしがり
（波打った丸い硬貨や6角形の硬貨など、
ヴァラティーに富んでいる形のものが多い）
屋台のおじいさんにいくらですかと聞いた所、
ただでやるよ、と言われ、とても嬉しそうだった。
First stop, Porta Portese.
Mom had to find old hinges that could be used for the bread case.
We didn't find any around.
Seems that hinges are the metallic parts that disintegrate more easily.
We did find door knobs, old keys, locks, so on and so forth.
I found some nice Indian rupee coins that I liked
(some are round and frilly!)
When we asked the man how much he said I could have them for free!
市場のあとは８番のトラムに乗り、
終点のトッレ・アジェンティーナ広場のフェルトリネッリ書店へ。
児童図書のセクションでは子供用のかわいい椅子にすわり、
２人ともそれぞれいろいろな本を見た。
"Viola non e' rossa" (Kite Edition)という、
可愛い絵本が出ていた。
ヴィオーラ（紫）という名前なのに、
赤面症ですぐに赤くなってしまうのでいじめられる女の子のお話。
それから"Il mestolo di Adele"。
「わたしは?申子。」という文句で始まるこの絵本は、
杓子が主人公で、彼の視点で歴史が語られる。
この杓子は第２次世界大戦中にイタリア政府により押収されてしまった
ユダヤ人アデーレの財産一覧にあったものだった・・・
作者のRuiz Mignone Sebastiano はなかなかいい。
ボローニャで個展をやっていたポーランドの
Joanna Concejo の絵本、"Il Signor Nessuno"は
確かに絵柄的には子どもには難しいのかもしれないが、私は大好きだ。
お話もとてもいい。
息子には漫画の"Rat Man"を購入し、
ご機嫌なところにつけこんで、マクドで食べたあと、展覧会を観に行こう！
と誘ったところ、館内で漫画を読んでも怒らないということを条件に
承諾を得る。
（ラットマンは１９９７年、イタリア生まれのアンチヒーロー！）
Second stop: the Feltrinelli Bookshop in Largo Argentina.
We just took the number 8 tram to the end.
It was really cool inside the store and we browsed through
a lot of books at the children's section.
Mom showed me an encyclopedia of monsters originally
published in France.
I found pages on the 'kappa'.
Didn't know that it was considered a monster!
Mom got me a Ratman volume.
Ratman is an anti-hero born in Italy in 1997.
Mom used it as a bribe to persuade me in accompanying her
to (another one of those) art shows...
but, after lunching at MacDonald's on Corso Vittorio Emanuele,
which wasn't bad.
１９３１年に遡るQuadriennaleグワドリエンナーレ。
これは４年ごとに開かれるイタリア現代美術展。
今年は１５回目だ。
あまり期待しないほうがいいよと色々な人に言われたが
とてもおもしろい展覧会であった。
特に若手に焦点の当てられたこの展示には９９人のアーティストが参加。
中にはこの展覧会用に描き下ろされた作品もあり。
特に気に入ったのはベルガモ出身の７８年生まれのAndrea Mastrovito。
アニメ映写を使った、コの字型の３つの壁面にわたった作品。
蝶の人間への変転、死と再生。
ボローニャ生まれのFrancesco Solmiは
しかしもはやアメリカのアーティストと言うべきだろう。
９９年からニューヨークで活躍。
今回は２００６年作のKing Kongというアニメ作品とその原画が展示されていた。
未来の教皇が主人公の最新作、The Evil Empireのローマ発表は
難しいのだろうなあ・・・
息子が気に入ったのは石けんを彫った都市の地図の作品。
作者はElisabetta Di Maggio.
彼女のテーマは素材のもろさ。
Ok, I admit it!
The Quadriennale wasn't that bad.
There were gigantic oils and some interesting video installations.
I liked the talking statues (with moving lips projected onto the
mouthless faces) and a real car completely covered with spikey glass.
The capsized mini-Ape truck covered with smelly wax seemed too real.
My favorite was a conveyer that started when you walked into the
dark tunnel, but an elderly visitor commented that
it couldn't be called art-work!
そして夜はサッカー観戦。
イタリアは負けてしまったが、素晴らしい試合であった。
イタリアが負けてローマの街は本当にしいいいいいいんとしていた。
In the evening we watched Italy vs. Spain!
We lost but Buffon was great...
