２００８年 ６月２８日 詩歌の夜 Poetry Night on the TIberine Isle
新しいクラスメートとともに、ティベリーナ島の夜。

It's scorching hot!
But I remember that August in Kyoto was hotter....
Last night I was back on the Tiberine Isle with my son
to hear the beauty and force of the words of the poets
coming from Turkey, Iran, Israel etc.
read by the poets themselves...
The event (which was part of the Meditterranea Intercontinental Literature and Arts Festival)
included a discussion that was held in the morning
to which unfortunately I could not go.
The title of the event was "Prove di dialogo", "Trial Dialogue" ,
which was significant after what happened at the 2008 Turin Book Fair...
But the words, they themselves told us that these poems come from
the same deep, infinite creative fount...
The flow of the river was all around us as the night descended.
I learned that in Rome and in its province
there are immigrants from more then 190 countries.
Many interesting projects were launched
especially in the schools to promote intercultural understanding.
One of them was "Un paese un mese", "One Country Every Month":
eight countries where chosen from the majority of immigrants,
so that elementary school children could enjoy eight kinds of
different cuisine during the school year.
(Romania, Bangladesh, Albania, Poland, the Philippines, Peru', China, Morocco)
Unfortunately right after the victory of the right wing
this interesting project was shut down....

でも京都の８月の方が暑かったなあ、と自分に言い聞かせると
多少涼しく感じる。
昨夜は息子とともにティベリーナ島に戻った。
「メディテラーネア」地中海芸術祭の一環としての
トルコ、シリア、イラン、イラクやイスラエルの詩人たちによる詩の朗読会を聴くために。
この春のトリノ国際ブックフェアでイスラエルが招待国に選ばれたため、
イスラム圏の作家や出版社がフェアのボイコットを呼びかけた。
もちろん表立っては言われていないことなのだが
今回の「対話の試み」というイベントそのものの題名は
詩を通し、ローマで対話を試みようという呼びかけ。
実際の「対話」は午前中のコンファレンスで行われた。
川の中州で行われた夜の部は純粋な朗読会。
でも説明など必要なかった。
言葉の響きの美しさ、力強さが語っていた様々なの文化を遡ったところの深源・・・
川の流れの音の伴奏・・・
朗読会には色々な文化人が来ていたのだが
ローマ市で異文化交流プロジェクトの企画をしていたすばらしい女性に出会った。
日本でも新聞に発表されていたそうなのだが
移民の多いローマで小学校の給食に月に一回
外国料理を取り入れようと言うプロジェクトがあった。
それは１９０カ国（！！）から集まってきている移民の中でも
特に人口の多い国を８つ選び、
子ども向けに材料などもアレンジをして
その国の料理だけでなく、文化を紹介しようというもの。
５カ国まで行ったところで選挙があり、右派が勝利。
とたんにこの企画はシャットダウン。実に残念だ。
